Wedding Fabric Shopping in Mumbai: Where to Start

A wedding wardrobe is the biggest fabric purchase most families ever make - and the one with the least room for error. If you are planning wedding fabric shopping in Mumbai, start with the timeline, then the metreage, then the stores.
Work backwards from the wedding date
Give your tailor at least four to six weeks for bridal pieces and two to three weeks for family outfits. That means fabric should be bought two to three months before the wedding for anything embroidered or hand-finished, and a month before for simpler weaves.
Buy the main fabric and all contrast pieces in one trip so the shades match. If you are buying online, order the full metreage together and check the SKU matches across pieces.
How much fabric a bridal wardrobe takes
A bridal lehenga in a heavy weave can take six to nine metres including the blouse and dupatta. A reception outfit usually takes four to five. Family outfits - kurtas, sarees and lehengas - typically run three to six metres each. Add half a metre to every estimate for safety.
Where to shop in Mumbai
For bridal silks and embroideries, our Juhu flagship on Vaikunthlal Mehta Road, next to Juhu Police Station, carries the widest range. The Nepean Sea Road boutique in Malabar Hill is the South Mumbai option for premium silks and organza, while Ghatkopar, Thane and Goregaon serve the suburbs with the same collection.
Order early, buy online with confidence
Everything we stock in store is also available on our fabric store online, dispatched across India - useful for family members in other cities who need the exact same fabric. Buy fabric online for them and visit a store for the pieces you want to feel first.
